Character Age: 18
Character Gender: Female
Character Family: N/A
Character Faction: The Temple
Character Homeland: The Land of Beasts
Character Magic: Innate: Destruction
The Finer Details:
Personality: - Spoiler:
- Sola is extremely prideful and haughty, boasting herself to be equal or better than most of the knights in the Temple in the ways of power and swordsmanship, believing that only her father would be the most suitable challenge for her in battle. Instead of merely wanting to become the best Knight the Temple has ever had, she instead has the dream to rule over the Temple itself as a King. From her slave days, she has the tendency not to think on her gender being a factor in the way other people should see her, even going as far as to threatening killing intent towards those that would hold her gender against her. In fact her femininity matters so little to her that she harbors no concerns for wearing clothing that reveals or shows off some of her body.
With attention towards her Father, she holds the Elder Dragon in high regards as both a suitable father and a terrible one for leaving her to fend for herself as it was likely the reason why she was able to be captured in the first place and turned into a slave. It's a mixture between love from having been born from her mother and cared for by her father and hatred for her father turning his back onto her and not even noticing her missing for several years within the Temple's imprisonment. Despite her appearance being a youthful teenager this does not change the fact that she is a brutal and wild person with very little concern for the lives of humans that make up half of her race - she finds them strange compared to her life in the wilds but there is a beauty in the way they life as well. It's likely for this reason alone that she can feel some sense of comradery with a few humans she's gotten to know over the years of her imprisonment and knight training.
Sola doesn't hide her enjoyment of battle, displaying joy and cruelty on the battlefield with eyes of a person that lives to fight and achieve their goals by any means necessary. Believing in the ideal that if you want something you have to fight for it, to reach out and grab it with your own two hands, things given to you so easily just aren't worth it and defeat the purpose of making it your own. Thus with her dream of becoming the King of the Temple she wants to fight her way through rigorous battles and face confrontations to the point where none would question her rule over them, because she earned her spot and it was never given to her easily by anyone else. Over-all she is a proud woman with an no shortage of overconfidence and resolve to try and back it up.
To those that would drink with her and share stories of glory, they are welcomed. Those who would stand in the way of her dreams and attack those that she finds fondness in? They would become the blood that paints the path she treads upon.
- Spoiler:
- Years ago there lived a clan of humans, believers of a faith holding the existence of Dragons and their kind to be equivalent to Gods. They sought to worship them for both their power and protection, following their beliefs they created a village that would regularly make tributes and offerings to the legendary creatures in order to save themselves from their fury. The villagers offered collected meats from hunting or treasures brought back from adventurers of the town but on the rare occasions when hunting for game proved too difficult or adventurers did not return back in time to offer what they'd retrieved, they would offer one of their own people as a sacrifice. This is where the story begins, taking place 19 years ago in the middle of the colder season within the village, most the animals were either hibernating or proving too little in amount to be a proper tribute. To make matters worse many of the adventurers did not bring hefty yields of bounty or could not go out to adventure for any because of the chilling snow storms.
In the end the villagers called a gathering together to face the problem at hand, ultimately a decision was reached that one of their religion's priestesses would go to the Elder Dragon they paid their worship to. They cared not if the woman was killed to appease the Dragon or if she would manage to quell the being on her own, in the end most of the villagers merely cared about themselves. The woman was sent off with only a day worth of food and some suitable clothes to combat the cold. It took the woman three harsh days and nights through the snowstorm raging within the land to find the cavern the dragon called it's home. She was afraid, being only human it could not be helped when one faced the gates of inevitable death and pain. No one wished for such to come upon them truly, but the woman had to steel her resolve for her people.
Entering inside the woman met with the creature, the beast was as magnificent as it was frightening to the eyes by how powerful it must have been, laying atop a small mountain of gold and mixed treasures beyond most men's dreams. An intruder was heavily frowned upon by the creature, threatening the human with an audible growl the Dragon rose it's head and spoke in the common tongue so the woman would understand him. This was the first anyone from the village had heard the creature speak and it sent shivers down her spine. "You who would trespass into my domain, for what reason have you come? If it is a poor one, I shall spare no time in your slaughter, you will become a stain upon the very earth you stand upon... speak now or face judgment as punishment."
At first, the woman was left speechless at this first contact between her and the creature before her, but she quickly tried to explain herself. "I offer my greatest apologies to you, I meant no offense to you this evening by coming here. I have come on behalf of my village, for years we have paid you respect and given gifts as tributes to your glory but unfortunately this year we have nothing of worth to grant you. As payment, I was sent here... if it would quell your rage, you may take my life. I am forfeit for the sins of our negligence in our worship to you and your kind, so I cannot offer complaints to the result of our meeting."
The Dragon's eyes narrowed at this woman who faced certain death with open arms, embracing her duty for her people with no tears or anger. He could tell by her breathing she was afraid but even still she didn't run from this responsibility? Humans were such hopelessly weak beings, there were few that rose to the occasion to become the heroes of their past but they were always few and far between, like grains of sand in the Dragon's lifespan. "You shall not be killed, instead you shall remain as a new treasure to add to my coffers - your life belongs to me until you eventually perish, until then you shall serve me faithfully for your people."
Relief settled over the woman and she took the being's words to heart, this was a merciful decision and she bowed her head to him. In the course of months together, the village was destroyed by numerous beasts that had gone on a rampage through the area, tearing the only world the woman had known to shreds. In her grief, the Dragon was there. Taking human form by way of his magic, they embraced in her sorrow and through a night of distracting passion the woman would become the to-be mother of the half-human child known by the name her mother granted to her -- "Sola" for the golden hair her child had that glistened with the beauty of the sun itself.
However just as the Dragon knew, humans were a pathetically fragile race and the woman passed away soon after giving birth to their child. Leaving the Dragon to take care of the child for the years to come ahead. He would be firm in his care, he could not afford to coddle a youth that would be broken by the world outside. For seven long years he watched over Sola, raising the girl to be able to survive on her own as he knew just as his own kind would do, he would have to leave her. From fighting, to hunting and survival Sola learned to fend for herself.
Within coming years at the age of 12 for Sola, rumors spread of a wild woman with scales upon her back who would attack any that came near a forest within the Land of Beasts. The Temple took it upon themselves to send some of their best to the forest to establish contact with Sola and retrieve her, though additional orders were to kill her if possible if they couldn't bring her back with them. Sola was strong, but alas she was no grand fighter with years of experience on their belt, her tactics were too simple and fighting style too unrefined. She couldn't even tap into the dragon's blood that coursed through her veins, so in the end the Temple succeeded in their capture of the girl and brought her back to their homeland as a slave.
Torture, discipline, training, study and servitude, Sola fought through years under the Temple's thumb from the bottom, clawing herself to the title of becoming one of their Knights for her raw physical power and potential combat prowess. Like a rare gem trapped in a chest beneath the ground, she was slowly being brought to the surface to shine. From the scales on her back and her fierce reputation as the wild defender of the Temple and it's people, Sola was bestowed the title she now is known most as: "The Knight of the Scales". This is her story.
